Well, well, well, for the first time in ages I have not been in the mood to celebrate the 4th of July. I felt awful too because my son was desperately hoping for this big fireworks shebang in the backyard, but working, running errands, and family functions had me WAY too tired.
Well, I actually took both Thursday and Friday off so that I could get a few things done, and after a fun filled day of paying bills, oil changes, and License plate renewals, my son and I settled in at the movies for some action packed Will Smith cinema! "Hancock" was EXCELLENT by the way!
Thursday night we attended the festivities on the grounds of Delmar Gardens Retirement Community which was spectacular. Free Food, Free Beer, and Free entertainment, talk about FUN. The fireworks display was fantastic as well, but my spoiled ass 7year year son looked bored out of his mind towards the end, so we left before the fireworks ended. What a little party pooper he is!!
Friday afternoon we had lunch then skidded off to the movies to see "Hancock" staring Will Smith. What a great action packed movie this was guys. I totally recommend that everyone go and see this flick. Hell, even the chicks will love this one.
Well after the movies I had to get ready for my family reunion picnic which was 2 hours away in Illinois. The turnout was great, the food was fattening, and the alcohol made everyone drunk. The last thing I need is to be 2 hours away from home with a 7 year old kid, and a bunch of drunken ass family members!
I'm SO done with family gatherings for a while!
Well needless to say that when we finally arrived back home yesterday night my son wanted to pop fireworks which I hadn't got any. FUCK, I didn't think after all the festivities and fireworks he had seen previously, that he'd want to see more!
God I keep forgetting that he's ALL BOY and seeing shit blow up and explode is part of his testosterone driven genetic makeup!
Oh well, he'll live! LOL |
