Ok, so there's a great deal of chatter about the recent controversy surrounding Governor Spitzer and his high-dollar taste for call girls. I can only imagine the humiliation that he and his family are going through right now, and hopefully the gossip hungry media can look past this awkward situation and focus on more important issues...like our failing economy. When I was speaking to Hawaiian Honey on this issue earlier in the day, she made a very good observation by asking how come these high profile men and politicians never use assistants to set up these rendezvous. Why would a politician himself call an escorting agency knowing damn well that his anonymity could be compromised? Why would a high profile individual even disclose his title to an escorting agency?
A lot of my readers may be saying to themselves, "Well, since Erika is in the same industry, then she must feel sorry for the guy", and that sentiment is correct...I do feel sorry for the guy. Even before becoming an escort myself, I had a huge understanding of this business and the people that partake in it. High-Profiled men and hookers are not a new phenomenon, so when the media blows a story like this out of proportion it only makes the viewer think..."Ok, so what's new"?
I am however worried about the Governors hypocritical view on the issue, and his plots to clean up corruption, white-collar criminals and tackling organized crime. He was also known for prosecuting several prostitution rings. But I have to admit that most of us Americans are hypocrites anyway, and will support certain illegal activities that seem harmless to us. I had one client who went on a tangent over Illegal Immigrants, and how they are breaking a law by being here undocumented, so I had to kindly remind my client that he himself commits a crime every week by being with me, and that his crime holds a harder punishment than those Immigrants that come here undocumented!
That shut him up real quick!
